USAF, SC-54D, 42-72547 having departed Prestwick at 18:00 for Lajes, with 17 POB. It had previously arrived into Prestwick (from Lajes) at 16:42 on the 12th April.
This C-54 was delivered to the USAAF on 31st March 1945 as a C-54D and later converted to a SC-54D 'Rescuemaster'. It subsequently served with the 57th ARS, at Lajes, as a HC-54D and on the 15th March 1966 it was delivered to the Portuguese Air Force for spares and allocated their tail-number 7514. It joined four other ex USAF HC-54D's that the Portuguese had acquired for spares, 42-72521, 42-72615, 42-72459 and 42-72575.
