Regrettably this Hercules was lost on 16th October 1982 when it ditched in the Atlantic after running out of fuel en route from the Lajes to Bermuda, with the loss of five of the 13 occupants. It ditched some 330 Km off Cape May, NJ and remained afloat for two days.
